The day started unusually when were eating breakfast with another couple and looked out the windows of the hotel to see a maroon car with a car top carrier like ours parked right outside. When we noticed it was a Honda, the curiosity was too much. As you can see, it is definitely not a PA car, and has some decals we don't, but is quite similar.
We first went to the Durham Museum - in their old Union Station which is stately.

There were life sized figures in various places throughout the main floor.

Downstairs was the museum including many areas important to the development of Omaha including, of course, some train cars and a trolley.

Elements important to Omaha's development were there.
Even an old quilt.

And one we didn't understand when we saw this driving around the area.
Turns out Ak-sar-ben is Nebraska backwards and was used to kindle community spirit and enthusiasm during bleak economic times.

There was also a temporary exhibit pertaining to recovering items from sunken vessels using some sophisticated equipment.

Some of the items recovered were terribly altered like this mass of coins.
While others like these small hand made chess pieces were remarkably unaffected.

We then went to Council Bluffs, IA, which had this colorfully decorated bridge.

There was one quilt shop in this city.

There was also a Union Pacific Museum highlighting the importance of what the trains did for development of this part of the country and westward ...

... and Presidential travels in Lincoln's time ...

... and communication by telegraph ....

... and the impressive service including dining ware on the trains, even special pieces for the children.

Then we found a church near the hotel to attend Mass before the banquet this evening.
Tomorrow is the farewell breakfast and traveling across Iowa.
