Mostly a travel day. Mass at Immaculate Conception church about two miles from our motel, in Fairmont. Would have been more difficult next Sunday as they are cancelling their two Sunday Masses and celebrating Mass at a local site for their parish picnic.
With the late start, we determined we could make it to Morehead, KY - about halfway from the WV/KY/OH junction and Lexington, KY - about 4 hours or so driving time from Fairmont. Great driving weather, traffic not too heavy, no construction occurring.
When we got in, the receptionist at the Comfort Inn/Suites noted my Air Force T-shirt and gave us the military discount which was much greater than the AAA discount.
After eating at a Dickey's BBQ (part of a chain at which we had eaten previously) in Fairmont, we were pleased to find a truly local spot - Pop's Southern Style BBQ. It had its own smokehouse next door to the restaurant and people eating outside, too.
The immediate aroma of smoked meats was unmistakable as soon as we entered the restaurant. The décor was not unusual for a spot like this - although I think this was the first badger pelt I had ever seen (on the far left of the photo).
Bigger portions than Dickey's for similar prices. Food was very good. I'd go here weekly if it were near our home - they had a take-out business, too.
No quilt stores between Fairmont and Morehead open on Sunday. There are a couple in Morehead we'll try to visit before our planned drive to Mammoth Cave and overnight stay in Bowling Green.

You could tell which was the smokehouse by the pile of wood outside!! Church looks beautiful.
