As we left Morehead, we decided to capture this photo of the vehicle that was on the lawn in front of the motel - apparently used for a bluegrass festival in the area - or when there are air raids!

Although some of the quilt stores along the way were closed Sunday and Monday, we were successful at two in Lexington and one in Elizabethtown.

The one in Elizabethtown was in the basement of a split level home. This "No Parking" sign will apparently have significance for quilters.
We then moved on to Mammoth Cave - at first we weren't sure we would have time, but then we gained an hour by crossing into Central Time zone.
Although the cave itself was dry, the stairway into and out of the cave from ground level had a light waterfall flowing next to it.
We learned not only the ancient history of the native people exploring the cave, but also the DuPont's mining saltpeter for manufacturing gunpowder. Some of the mining structures are still seen in the cave.
As is to be expected, it is 54 degrees and dry inside the cave - contrasted with the upper 80's and humid aboveground. Kathy is in the foreground in the tour photo.During our travels from Fairmont, WV, to Morehead, TN, and beyond, we saw many classic cars from our youth and hot rods heading in the opposite direction. There were three outside the motel in Morehead as we left this morning.
However, as we pulled in to the motel here in Bowling Green this afternoon, this classic looking Indian touring bike with sidecar was parked by the front door. We had seen many Indian cycles at the Springfield, MA, museum in 2013, but this was the first we had seen on the road.Until tomorrow .......
